Carrier Rental Systems (CRS) raised discharge canal water temperature by utilizing steam boiler.

Application.

During the winter months, endangered manatees and other sea creatures utilize the warm water of a utility plant's discharge canal as a shelter. This particular plant's boiler was down for maintenance. The plant's discharge canal's normal winter shelter became dangerously chilled due to unusually cold weather. Concerned for the safety of the manatees, the utility company called Carrier Rental Systems (CRS) for a solution. CRS's team (working closely with the company) designed an economical solution to the problem. By utilizing a steam boiler and heat exchanger, CRS was able to keep the canal's water temperature at a safe level. Below are sample pictures of the project:
